Gameplay
In this game players try to become the catiest cat lady of all players by luring the most cats to their playground and making sure they stay by having enough food for them in the end.
The game is set up with a 3*3 grid of the main deck. At all times there are also three stray cats visible to choose from. During a turn a player either takes an entire row or an entire column of three cards (ignoring the one the cat stands next to 🐈). After this they are refilled.
Cards consist of cats, food, costumes, catnip, toys, lost cats and spray bottles. Each of these has a certain purpose in the game. Cats give you points, on the condition of food they eat, indicated on the card. Spray bottles allow you to move the cat token. Catnip either scores or loses you points if you have not enough. More (Unique) Toys gain you more points and lost cats can make you find the stray cats, which have a specific way of scoring extra points.
Thoughts
Even though some people around me don't like the artwork, I find the look and feel of the game very nice. I like the simple cartoony artwork and overall graphic design a lot and I applaud the designer, who is also the illustrator of the game.
The gameplay feels solid. I really like this kind of game, where you are collecting sets and try to gather the most points. It's nice the winner often not known until the end of the game. And the theme is fun!
If you like set collection and fun quick games and (cats of course!) This is a fun smart little game right up your alley!
A copy of this game was provided to me by Alderac Entertainment Group for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
