Gameplay
In Ohanami players build Japanese gardens by collecting cards in rows. Each row is called a garden and each player is allowed three gardens on total. At the start of the game players take 6 cards for the first round. They pick up to two cards to play and then gives them to the player on their right. Rules for placing these cards are simple. They can be placed in one of the three gardens and need to be higher than the highest or lower than the lowest card in that row. Round ends when all players are out of cards. Then scoring starts. On the score sheet is indicated what cards you score in what round. After three rounds, the player with the most points wins the game!
Thoughts
This game surprised me! I have that sometimes when I see a game of cards existing of just numbers. How can this be a fun game? But I have been surprised enough times to know that the game can be a whole lot of fun!
Ohanami really is a quick an easy to teach game, which is perfect for after-work hours. It does have some luck involved, so you need to don't mind that. Other than that, I really enjoyed this game!
if you are a fan of small box games, you might want to check this one out!
A copy of this game was provided to me by White Goblin Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
