Gameplay

Undaunted is a strategic war game series that comprises two core games: Undaunted: Normandy and Undaunted: North Africa. Undaunted is designed for two players, where one player takes on the role of the Allied forces and the other player takes on the role of the Axis forces. The game is designed to simulate small unit combat during World War II.

Undaunted: Reinforcements is a modular expansion for both Undaunted: Normandy and Undaunted: North Africa. This expansion introduces new rules, scenarios, and units to the core games, making for an even more exciting and dynamic gaming experience.

The expansion includes a solitaire bot with 150 solo cards, which allows players to enjoy the game even if they are playing alone. Additionally, the expansion includes a 4-player mode, which allows players to play with up to four people.

Undaunted: Reinforcements also includes four new scenarios for both Normandy and North Africa, adding even more variety to the game. These scenarios provide different challenges and objectives, making each game unique and exciting.

Finally, the expansion introduces new units to both Normandy and North Africa. Normandy players will have access to vehicles and specialists, while North Africa players will have access to mines and assault aircraft. These new units add new strategic depth to the game and allow players to explore different tactics and strategies.

Thoughts

Solomode

I have played this expansion with the North Africa base game, and so far, I have tried out the new solitaire bot in six games. However, I have not yet had the chance to play any of the new scenarios or units, but I plan to post a review about them in the future.

I find that the solobot gameplay is very solid and specifically designed for each scenario, making it very enjoyable to play. Although the AI is not particularly smart, it always sets up an interesting battle that can be quite challenging to win in normal mode.

The expansion offers a lot of new content for both the earlier released games, including new units that look quite cool. I'm particularly excited about trying out the aircraft in later scenarios, and I will share more about them once I get to play with them.

One thing I appreciate about this expansion is the box. It holds everything from both base games and the reinforcements content so well!!

However, I have found that the solobot can be quite challenging to beat in normal mode, but easier in easy mode. I also want to point out that setting up each solo game requires different solocards that state the rules for the units of that particular scenario, which can be quite time-consuming. Nonetheless, handling the bot is pretty straightforward.

A copy of this game was provided to me by Osprey Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
