Gameplay
In Terraforming mars, players terraform Mars into a livable planet! They do this by taking turns contributing in their own way. Cities will be build, sustainable technologies introduced and the heat will rise! Each player will gather points by starting engines and by playing cards.
The game ends when Mars has the conditions in which humans can survive, a temperature of 8 degrees Celcius, an oxygen level of 13 per cent and enough area of the planet covered in water.
Players will then count their scores and the player with the most points wins the game!
Thoughts
I was a bit hesitant to play Terraforming Mars (TM) for the first time, as I was a bit scared of its duration and complexity.
However, my curiosity won. Having played TM a couple of times now I'm getting more and more enthousiastic. This game just feels so good! It's so fullfilling to build an engine in this game. The length of the game is a bit long for my taste (the prelude expansion should do something about precisely that though..), but it doesn't feel long while playing it.
I really like how each time you play it is possible to focus on something different. So much ways to victory, precisely how I like them. I also really like how realistic and sciency this game feels. Like, are we going to terraform mars for real guys?
This game is a gem, a classic and I can recommend it to everybody who likes strategic games, in which you have to build towards an epic end game!
A copy of this game was provided to me by Intrafin for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
