Gameplay

The Downstream expansion comes with a brand new game board, which has an easy side for beginners and a more advanced side for those who are up for a challenge. 🤓

But that's not all, players also get to play a new arrow that's specifically designed for this board. This unlocks a bunch of new water creatures and plants that will help you progress downstream. 🚣‍♀️

Now, these creatures won't score you points directly, but they will give your kayakers all sorts of bonuses and victory points at the end of the game. 🏆

This expansion comes with:

🦦 a new gameboard with an easy and a more advanced side, to be added to the small board.

🦦 Players get to play a new arrow, for this board specifically, gaining all sorts new water creatures and plants.

So besides the base gameplay, there is a new element of progressing on this watertrack.

Thoughts

So in my earlier review of Meadow, I mentioned how the game arc felt a bit too long for me. But guess what? This expansion is here to save the day and add some fresh new elements to the game! And let me tell you, it's a game-changer! 😍

The artwork is, once again, absolutely stunning. And the game arc now feels just right, fixed in comparison to the base game. Plus, the new progression 'downstream' is a really nice touch. It adds a whole new dimension to the game, without making it too complicated. You get to make choices and score points in a different way - so cool! 🌟

Oh, and let's not forget that there are two sides to the board - an easier one and one with a bit more spice to it. So there's something for everyone, whether you're a casual player or a more experienced one. Overall, I'm really loving this expansion and highly recommend it to any Meadow fan!

👍 the artwork again is stunning

👍 the game arc feels just right, fixed in comparison to the basegame

👍 the progression ‘downstream’ is very nice, a different way to develop and score points. It provides a fresh new element of choice to the game, without getting too ‘thinky’

👍 I like the fact there are two sides of the board, an easier one and one with a bit more spice to it.
